The business indicators in economics, politics, energy,inflation, interest rates, exchange rates and commodity prices are all phenomenal macro economic impacts that have left most businesses on survival mode. Guess what, these impacts have always been around and these trends are not going to ease for a long while.

Survival is not good enough, we need to create strategies that deliver measured results.

We need to reframe our goals and focus on what is profitable.

The business environment is such that margins are being squeezed and the customers are wanting a quality product at a low price. The customer experience at the shops needs to be excellent to attract the customer, which is an expensive exercise, and so there is a fine balance on selling a product at the right price or just do a promotional sale just above the cost price. A sale without a sustainable profit is bad business.

Make 2023 a year of sustainable profitability and make all the stakeholders accountable.

Social Media and likes are not enough because it is very hard to compete in the super highway of digital communications. Yes, digital analytics are a great tool but again it only shapes more knowledge about your visitors to your site.

Online sales are an excellent business channel that not only sells your product but also motivates your client to buy based on the product information. The online shop needs to have a fast and trustworthy delivery system.

Marketing plans have to be designed to engage ideal clients by using all communication platforms. Yes, it is costly but measured results are better than no results.

The watershed moment for me is, start your planning and your goal setting now don’t wait for the new year resolutions.
