Burnt Ink

The future belongs to your imagination

Karl Lagerfeld

Open canvas, a piece of paper that was once a piece of a living tree, burnt ink and symbols that together create words, I believe that this is still how the most romantic writing is created.

A metal seal with my initials is placed on an envelope with melted black wax.

A ribbon is embedded in the wax with your insignia.

No, not only for royalty you can create your own brand.

The deliberate and constant attention to the most minimal detail is what Giorgio Armani,in his own quote about success shared, as his own belief in crafting the exquisite collections, magnificently executed year after year. It all started in his imagination with sketches that he designed in burnt ink or with charcoal pencils.

A raw piece of paper differentiates you from the rest and creates the poetry of what becomes an unforgettable writing experience or indeed the most epic story of love that started in your imagination.

I write to celebrate the art of writing, I honour the many writers that came before me and that many writers that will come after me.

I am not a published writer, with best sellers or awards in publishing, so I am constantly humbled by the mastery of others and I often feel vulnerable when I write because words are like spells that bind you with their promises and wrap you in sentiments never explored before.

Tinta Queimada is the translation of Burnt Ink in my mother language. This sentence burns my skin with memories of poetic brilliance.

The word Burnt evokes fires of the Mind, the Soul and the Body.

Fires are ranging all over Europe, mostly in the Countries that I love the most. So, I pray and I write.

Greece, Spain and Portugal are engulfed by flames that devour every living element. Every living creature is at risk.

Even during tragic events my mind searches for beauty and my imagination finds expression based in the vivid colours of fires.

I was burnt on my leg once when a piece of newspaper that was used to light a fire flew, due to a strong wind and glued itself to my left leg.

My mother cried. I must have been six or seven years old but I didn’t cry, I was just in pain. No, I do not have a physical scar but yes the word burnt still hurts.

Beautiful people because I curate kitchen sinks it is ever present in my mind that we cook with fire, gas, electricity and other forms of energy therefore I ask you today, to be mindful of fires in your kitchen or outdoors.

Most kitchen sinks sustain temperatures of up to 160 Degrees Centigrade but of course constant heat transforms the properties of metal therefore, plan your kitchen design ergonomically so that your sink is not your preferred surface on which to place high heat utensils for long periods of time.

Burnt ink is part of my chemistry.

Talk soon, stay safe.
