A girl needs to be both classy and fabulous

Captivating is a word that talks to your heart, mind and soul all at once.
There are not many people or indeed movies that have what it takes to be riveting and to entertain you so completely that they evoke a devouring passion in you forever more.
Only extraordinary events open your emotions to phenomenal possibilities.
Recently, I discussed the movie Out of Africa, brilliantly acted by the fabulous Meryl Streep and Robert Redford with a great friend of mine that lives in London.
My friend James is an authentic British gentleman that honours his lineage with indomitable resilience and a sense of adventure.
Cambridge educated, he studied architecture and he too said that he would have loved to have a Farm in Africa.
Out of Africa was idyllic.

A Farm in Africa
The most passionate part of the movie for me was how Baroness Karen Christenze von Blixen-Finecke, a Danish aristocrat enchanted the man she loved with storytelling.
She captivated him with her words and her calm voice. Her stories were imaginary. She was a writer.
Classy and Fabulous
Karen Blixen was a classy and fabulous woman that left behind her a lasting legacy of stoicism.
Her wild tales of endless pursuits in the African bush bear testament to the infinite possibilities that a resolute woman can create. She managed a beautiful coffee plantation in Kenya and grew to love the Kikuyu people. She was one of the first great conservationists in Kenya.
In Africa the staff that work for you are your extended family.
I recognised similar stories in me. If you live in Africa you often help your staff and therefore bridge the gap of cultural differences through humanity without giving it a second thought.
The way that Karen attended to the sick changed their lives.
I also loved the part when she finally capitulated and told her humble servant to forget about the white gloves…Africa transformed her.
.

In the home the art of conversation is not only entertaining but it creates strong bonds and memories.
I treasure all the stories that I listened to when I was a child from both my parents and grandparents.
Sitting at the dinning room table was often a place where everyone participated in sharing wild tales.
Some were true and some were just larger than life in order to create unforgettable memories in our minds. The stories were mostly about bravery and courage in distant lands.
Both my grandparents on my father’s side of the family and my mother’s side were intrepid explorers.

Write poetry or a book and share all the stories that make you who you are.
Live to be classy and fabulous…but above all unforgettable.
Talk soon …

How this post touches my core of cores! Africa is in my blood, for I too had the chance to grow and be fabulous…
I thank you from that core for all the beautiful and honest writing that is inate in you.
Its a truly wonderful post.
With love.
