I have had the pleasure to enjoy afternoon tea at the Ritz in London, lunch at the Russian Tea Room in New York, dinner at the Maze in London, dinner at the Hotel Cipriani in Venice, the best dinner ever at the private house of Princess Margaret in Mustique and also loved the best Asian Indian fusion buffet at the Hotel in Thailand facing the river.
There was Turkish food in Istanbul that delicately conquered my soul with its rich fusion of East and West. I loved the fragrance of the Turkish cuisine.
Going to eat out at these famous places are uniquely unforgettable.
It is not just about the meal but about the beauty of dressing up for each occasion and to be divinely aware that you are walking in the same rooms where iconic people and celebrity chefs walk.
You are stepping into the footprints of giants in their field.
The interior decoration at these restaurants is simply stunning .
Every detail is considered.
The professionalism of the teams working at these restaurants is so high that every venue competes against each other for that moment when a new Michelin Star is awarded.
Is it worth it. … yes it is.…
The most mystical experience however I enjoyed in Mauritius for my son’s birthday when we hired a local fisherman to take us to an inhabited island for lunch.
He said to us that his wife would prepare some fresh salads and that he would barbecue a fresh fish for us on the beach. Sounded simple but delicious.
Now comes the biggest surprise…
Our host, the fisherman, in the middle of the Indian Ocean takes his spear with him and steps out of the boat and literally walks on water…wow, really what is going on ! In no time he spears a fish we are amazed and realised that he had walked on a submerged coral reef that he clearly knew well. We couldn’t believe our eyes it was like magic.
With a huge white smile on his tanned face he said…here is lunch.
Delicate. Delicious. Divine
Mauritius and this magnificent friendly fisherman gave us the best and most exciting meal ever. The salads were exotic and fresh.
Nature, simplicity and ingenuity created a spectacular and beautiful meal.
