The World is still battling with the cruel effects of the pandemic and the impact on our lives is massive.

The businesses must go on and so this blog is focused on new trends.

Maison & Object has announced two colour trends for 2021 ” Illuminating Yellow”, which goes by the number 13-0647 and ” Ultimate Grey” number 17-5104. This is according to the Pantone Colour Institute. The combination symbolizes “a marriage of optimism and strength”. In the movie Versailles, King Louis XIV of France, was referred to as the Sun King . He worshiped lavishness, the Sun and the Stars were an inspiration, for this visionary King. He wore a Sun Crown in Gold with garments in all different hues. Illuminating Yellow is a name that stirs up the imagination.

Ultimate Grey is, however, very sophisticated and elegant, simply, very attractive for a minimalistic interior.

The yellow and grey is a colour combination that gives us resilience and hope, as said in MOM. The Pantone Institute analyses global trends, across all sectors, including fashion, art and cinema as well as observing new lifestyles, technological developments and socio-economic conditions. The grey hints at the importance of solidarity, the Institute said.

I was fascinated to learn, from the blog of Maison & Object, that there is an historian that studies the backstory of colour. Amazing! his name is Michel Pastoureau.

Every collection starts off as a story and a style, that in turn inspire the colours, as said by Elizabeth Leriche. This is so true.

I had the pleasure to visit their factory once and they are without a doubt one of the most advanced porcelain producers in Europe. All made in Portugal since 1992.

The prices of stainless steel have gone up and so, despite all efforts having been made by the stainless steel sink manufacturers, I am expecting increases now in January 2021. I announced that prices would be held for the first quarter of 2021 however one of the European factories, on one of the models, will need to increase its prices.

It is desirable that a forecast of orders is prepared as soon as possible and that orders are placed for the year prior to July and August 2021, not only because of price but because the pandemic placed enormous stress and strain on the production lines.

Shipments and logistics are not operating like before, either. Some countries have no airfreight at all, due to no flights.
